Pevensey Villages Partnership sets out vision for the future
Over 50 key members of the local community attended the Pevensey Villages Partnership ‘Our Future – Made Together’ conference on 5 November to help shape the future of Pevensey Bay, Pevensey and Westham.
“The ‘Our Future – Made Together’ conference has been a great success. We’ve had some really thought provoking presenters and some excellent discussions with many innovative suggestions being brought to the table,” said Wealden District Councillor and event organiser Lin Clark. “2016 promises to be a huge year for the area – it marks 950 years since the Normans landed on our beaches and we’ve got some great ideas coming out from this event so watch this space!”
Wealden District Council Chairman Barby Dashwood-Morris introduced the event which included presentations from Jo Evans from Rotherfield St Martin, on working together to reduce isolation and loneliness in a rural community, Wealden Principal Policy Advisor officer Dr Jeremy Leach on behavioral change, Mina O’Brien of Ditzy Media on social media and Daniel Brookbank of Pevensey Senior Support Group on moving into the future together.
Pevensey Villages Partnership was founded in March 2014 from the Wealden District Council ‘Streets Ahead’ initiative to look at how the Council can help local communities to regenerate economic and social activity in their villages and towns. Pevensey Villages Partnership recently secured £10,000 of funding to help its regeneration plans from the Government’s Coastal Community Teams fund.
