Voices choir is just about to celebrate it’s third birthday. With membership now standing at around 120 over three choirs, this is still the friendliest choir around!
When folks join Voices, they do not have to audition, be able to read music or have any previous experience of singing. The only thing that matters is that you ENJOY singing.
The choir have won the Eastbourne Herald “Best Community Group” award, and can be frequently seen and heard around Pevensey Bay and Eastbourne singing to raise money for good causes. They have raised many thousands of pounds in support of such worthy causes as Macmillan Nurses, RNLI. Eastbourne, Chestnut Tree House, The Salvation Army, and many more. This term’s beneficiary will be Guide Dogs For The Blind…the choir itself votes for the chosen charity each term.
Two major concerts are held each year – the venue currently being The Royal Hippodrome Theatre, Eastbourne. The Summer Spectacular will be on 26th June at 7 pm.
The choir have performed at The Winter Gardens, The Bandstand, the Italian Gardens , on Western Lawns, the Arndale Centre, in various halls, but more unusually, in a shop window, and on the back of a lorry!
Voices have been chosen to accompany the Brit Award winners BLAKE in July, and will be opening the second half of the show with their beautiful rendition of The Rose.
New members are always welcome, and the new term will begin on 22nd July at Pevensey Bay Baptist Church (sessions either at 12.30-2.00 or 7-9 ), There are also choir meetings on Wednesdays at Christ The King Church, Eastbourne 7-9 pm.
