We have 4 councils serving us here in our villages. East Sussex County Council, Wealden District Council, Pevensey Parish Council and Westham Parish Council. You will find information about who’s who in the left hand menu.

Each Council deals with different services. We often seem to be getting the “run around” as we are passed from one to the other. We thought it would be helpful to list “who does what” here to help you get to the right Council first time. This information will appear very shortly……….

Wealden District CouncilStreets Ahead

Streets Ahead has been researched by a group of Councillors over a 10 month period, working with, and visiting the towns and larger villages within Wealden, looking at their shops and creating surveys to find out how the Council can work better with them to support their communities and their regeneration efforts. The Streets Ahead report (pdf) which contains a number of recommendations, was approved in December 2013. Work started on the project in January 2014 looking at the 5 objectives and speaking to the 14 towns and villages. The Streets Ahead Project’s main objectives are to:

  • Support local high street regeneration efforts
  • Assist with district wide joined up strategic solutions
  • Stimulate supporting economic growth
  • Improve perceptions of Wealden’s high streets
  • Position Wealden as a leader of innovative high street regeneration

The Towns and Villages which the Project Team identified as having 10 or more shops in Wealden are:
